TOT SCHOOL ...... KIND OF

~Punkin is 38 months old.~

Tot School has kinda been put on the back burner for awhile while we deal with some things with Firecracker. And I haven't been feeling quite myself lately either, so I haven't stressed myself out with trying to do tot school on a regular basis. We still do our morning calendar time each day and Carisa's PowerPoint lessons, which Punkin loves, as well as her name writing book, Kumon tracing books, and reading her emergent readers each day. Aside from that, it's pretty hit and miss what else we get done. Here are a few things she's done, though, in the last few weeks.

Practicing her cutting. She loves just sitting and cutting scrap paper.

Matching up letter flashcards.

Doing her sight word pages from Carisa's You Can Read program.

Writing in her letter writing book.

She got this letter tracing book from a friend when Firecracker was born. She loves tracing all the letters.

Cutting apart her Bible verse one week and gluing it together.

We did actually get around to making this W is for Watermelon craft one day since I already had it made up and ready to go from a long time ago.

I also got out this watermelon addition game that I had from my teaching days.

She used clothespins to clip the correct picture that started with the letter at the top.

We tried to do this block tower game where you take turns rolling the dice and adding that many blocks to your tower. Each time we compared the new towers and talked about more and less and taller and shorter. After a few times, however, she got frustrated with taking turns and just wanted to roll the dice and just build a tower herself.

She spends hours just drawing and coloring these days.

She also enjoys building with blocks and making "cities."

She helped me wash Firecracker's bottles one day.

And helped me fold rags and towels another day.

She spends lots of time playing with and entertaining Firecracker, too.

The Saturday before 9/11, we went downtown to "Hero Days" and looked at all the firetrucks.

We also spent some time at the festival in Grandma and Grandpa's town. She loved the Clydesdale horses, the rides, the parade, and the pumpkin ice cream!

Hopefully we can get back into our tot school routine sometime soon. But for now, we have to just fit it in when we can.
